The airline was established in 1988 and it was originally referred to as Cebu Air. Mainstream operations, however, commenced in 1996 and the airline was rated among the low-cost airlines in the industry. Cebu Pacific was established as a subsidiary airline for JG Summit Holdings and the main hub of the airline is in Ninoy Aquino Airport from where most of its operations are based.

The airline has grown considerably and in 2010 it was declared as the airline in the Philippines regarding the passenger numbers. The passenger numbers surpassed even those from Philippine Airlines which was regarded as the mainstream airline in the country. The airline currently flies to about 30 international destinations as well as 38 domestic destinations in the country.

The airline set on an expansion plan that saw the purchase of 37 airbus carriers to add to its fleet. The airline was among the initial partners in the Northwest Airlines alliance. It also codeshares with Garuda Indonesia. These efforts have seen the airline grow in the industry and hence increasing its profit margins considerably. It has managed to rise from a small airline into a formidable force in the industry.

Cebu Pacific launched its online portal from where travellers can make reservations and check in for their flights. The online platform is regulated and is often closed about 60 minutes to the departure time of the planes. For those checking in, the online platform also has the option of printing boarding passes that can be used during boarding.


Boarding process follows the cabins although aged people or women with infants are often given preference before any other person.


The seats in Cebu Pacific Airlines are quite generally comfortable and the fleet comprises of relatively planes hence comfort is not a major issue. The seats are arranged in the normal pattern that involves two on each row with the midsection having three seats. Most passengers opt to use the midsection seats when using Cebu Pacific. The seats in the business and first class cabins all have an 180-degree recline and even those in the economy class are still quite comfortable.


The airline boasts of a very courteous staff and it has often received very good reviews courtesy of the staff. There are many services offered on board ranging from sumptuous meals to the simple beverages that are on offer during the flight.


The traveller is given a wide section of movies, music or even books to choose from. Audio books are also available as part of the entertainment repertoire.


Ticket cancellations can only be refunded if they occur before the departure time that is set on the ticket. Light cancellations or delays by the airline may also necessitate refunds.
