China Airlines Flights

China Airlines, not to be confused with Air China, is the flagship airline of the Republic of Taiwan. As of 2013, it was ranked as the 29th largest airline in the world. China Airlines operates over 1,400 flights weekly to 145 different destinations across the globe. Headquartered in Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, China Airlines is known for its innovation and for continually improving its flight experience for passengers. For instance, in 2014, the airline announced the launched of its NexGen program, which features a modern overhaul of its cabin interiors, lounges, and overall brand image. Over the years, China Airlines has also won numerous awards, such as the CAA 2014 Golden Wing Awards.

China Airlines is a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, and has its own frequent flyer program called Dynasty Flyer. Flight bookings and more information about the airline can be found on its website or its Facebook page. Alternatively, China Airlines has a mobile app available for both Apple and Android devices.

Online Booking

Flight bookings can be made on China Airlines website. For customers that are undecided on their travel destination, the Discover tab on the website also lets you scout out promotions and early bird deals on numerous destinations all over the world. Besides flight bookings, the website also allows you to check-in online and check your flight status. Similarly, the mobile app has all the functions of the website.

Seating

The China Airlines fleet consists of 83 aircrafts, of which 24 are Airbus A330-300s and 19 are Boeing 737-800s.

The A330s also have two classes of seats. Business Class seats have a 58-inch pitch and 26.5-inch width, while Economy Class seats have a 33-inch pitch and 17.7-inch width.

The Boeing 737-800 planes also have two classes of seats – Business Class seats are recliners with a 37-inch pitch and 21-inch width. The Economy Class seats have a 32-inch pitch and 17-inch width.

Online and Mobile Check-In

Online check-in is available on both the website and the mobile app, 24 hours to 1.5 hours before the departure time. To retrieve your booking, please enter either your reservation number, Dynasty Card number, or e-ticket number. Once online check-in is completed, passengers can either retrieve a self-printed boarding pass or mobile boarding pass. Please note that this is accepted at certain countries only, and is not accepted if your destination is the US, Australia, or New Zealand.

Baggage Allowances

The baggage allowance is a maximum of 35 kg for Economy Class tickets, 35 kg for Premium Economy, and 40 kg for Business Class. These guidelines are applicable to flights outside of North America (including Canada), and the number of checked baggage is not limited. For trip within North America, the baggage allowance is two 23 kg pieces for Economy Class, two 29 kg pieces for Premium Economy, and two 32 kg pieces for Business Class.

Service on Board

All seats are outfitted with an individual TV screen which displays in-flight entertainment. Premium Business Class passengers can expect a comfortable enclosed seating area with an 18-inch HD monitor, personal storage, and a large working table. Premium Economy and Business Class passengers will also be given an amenities kit and a specially prepared food menu. Passengers can also purchase wireless Internet for use during their flight. The cost for 1 hour of wireless Internet is NT$350 (HK$91), NT$500 (HK$129.50) for 3 hours, and NT$650 (HK$168.50) for 24 hours.

Ticket Refund and Changing Policies

Ticket refunds are processed on the website at the Refund Tickets page. Booking information (first and last name, and e-ticket number), as well as the reason for refund, are required. There are different rules for refunds. For example, refunds for tickets departing from Japan cannot be processed online and customers will need to contact China Airlines’ Japan office directly. Tickets to and from the US can be fully refunded if the application is submitted within 48 hours of purchase, and if the flight departure is more than 1 week away. Tickets bought through a travel agency should be refunded from there instead of the online website.
