Hong Kong Airlines is an international airport based in Hong Kong, with its headquarters at Hong Kong International Airport. Originally opened in 2006, the airline’s parent organization is Hainan Airlines. Hong Kong Airlines currently operates flights to over 30 destinations, such as Taipei, Beijing, Seoul, Bali, Bangkok, and Okinawa, to name a few. Since 2011, the airline has been awarded the 4-star rating by Skytrax. It has its own frequent flyer program, the Fortune Wings Club.

Online Booking & Check-In

All flight bookings can be made on the Hong Kong Airlines website, under the “Plan & Book” tab. Bookings for hotels, rental cars, and travel insurance is also available online. Passengers can check-in online between 2 and 48 hours before the departure time. Do be sure to check if your flight is eligible for online check-in by entering your e-ticket number, last name, and first and middle name, on the website. At the airport, there are bag drop-off counters for the convenience of passengers who have already completed online check-in.


Hong Kong Airlines’ fleet consists of 29 passenger aircrafts. The most common aircraft used is the Airbus A320-200, which has two classes of seats. Business Class seats have a 38-inch pitch, 21-inch width, and can be reclined up to 130 degrees. Meanwhile, Economy Class seats have a 30-inch pitch and 18-inch width.

Baggage Allowances

In general, flights between Hong Kong and the Southwest Pacific have a baggage allowance of two 23 kg pieces for Economy Class, and two 32 kg pieces for Business Class passengers. Fortune Wing Club members are also entitled to additional baggage depending on their destination and their membership status.

Service on Board

All seats come equipped with an personal televsion to screen in-flight entertainment. Passengers can choose from a wide selection of movies, TV shows, and video games. In-flight meals are also available, mostly showcasing Hong Kong’s delicious Cantonese cuisine. Special meal requests can be made through the reservations office or the online booking system at least 24 hours before the departure time.

Ticket Refund & Changing Policies

Please note that all refunds must be processed by the party that issued the ticket. Hong Kong Airlines allows for bookings made through the website to be cancelled with a full refund within 24 hours of the booking, provided that the departure time is at least 1 week away. Other passengers may have their refunds processed through an online application.
