Headquartered in PNB financial centre, this airline was initially referred to as PAL until it changed the name later in 1970. The airline flies to about 31 local destinations in the Philippines with over 40 destinations abroad. For a long time, it was one of the largest airlines until other airlines rose to the task and economic meltdown led to the downsizing of the airline.

The airline emerged from the failures a more rejuvenated side courtesy of new management among other factors. The main hub of the airline is at Ninoy Aquino International Airport although it has other alternative hubs. The total fleet size stands at 81 including subsidiaries and the airline employs over 5000 individuals.

Booking can be done at the airline offices by the traveller although the airline also has an online platform that allows individuals to access the tickets. From this platform, one can even download and print a boarding pass that is acceptable during boarding. Passengers are, however, advised to confirm the availability of space before booking.

The boarding process begins with the high priority often given to the elderly of the physically changed. Sometimes, expectant women are considered before any other passenger can board. The first-class travellers are then allowed to board followed by the business class travellers. Economy class travellers are then allowed to board last. The people who sit near the windows are expected to board first so as to minimise instances of disturbance.

The seats towards the back are not the best, or most comfortable. The seats in the middle are better for most people. The seats are soft and hence ensure the comfort of an individual.

There are series of magazines both educative and just for fun that are availed in Philippines Airlines. Travellers are also treated to a wide collection of movies that range from drama, fiction, comedy to action thrillers. The choice is up to the individual to decide what to watch. One can also opt to play the various games that are pre-installed in the screens that are located on the back of the seats. This creates some level of individualised touch to the entertainment aboard Philippines airlines.

There are various services on offer during most flights. Depending on the destinations, long distance travellers have the opportunity to sample some of the dishes that have been prepared by the chefs. The airline focuses on creating ambience and class especially for the travellers who use their planes. Those who have shorter distances, mostly domestic flights, enjoy a wide range of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic throughout their flights.

There are no clear guidelines on the refund policy for cancelled flights. However, as commonly practised, passengers who miss flights due to issues caused by the airline are often put on the next available flight to their destination. Sometimes, passengers have had to connect flights to reach their destinations. Sometimes, they have had to join up their flights later. One can, however, cancel a ticket within 24 hours of purchase. Tickets that are refunded are those that have been directly bought from the airline.
