Kaohsiung International Airport is also known as Kaohsiung Siaogang Airport because of the Siaogang district where it is located. It is a mid-sized commercial airport but still second the busiest Taiwanese airport in terms of passenger movement. It is located near Kaohsiung Harbor, about 9 km from the city centre.

The airport has two terminals:

  • Terminal 1: This terminal covers all the domestic flights and it is 17,500 square metres in size
  • Terminal 2: This terminal covers all the International flights and it is 70,985 square metres in size

Duty-free shops are available airside in the international terminal. You can also head towards the departures lobby if you can want to buy any gifts for your loved ones from the gift shop.

  • Information desk

You can get information, stroller rentals and much more by visiting the information desks at both domestic and international terminals. The availability hours for the domestic terminal are 8:00AM-9:00 PM, while for the international one are 5:30AM-9:00 PM.

You can take a Kaohsiung metro (MRT) from the Kaohsiung city centre to the airport and it only charges NT$20 for a one-way ticket. It would only take about 15 minutes to reach the destination.

Taxi hide 

You can find plenty of taxis to get to the airport, but a taxi would cost you almost NT$300 and can take about 30 to 60 minutes depending on the traffic jam.
