Bodø Airport is civil aviation airport for general public in the city of Bodø, Norway. It is located on the southern side of the city center and acts as a military air force base. Bodø’s Main Air Station is on the western tip which shares the facilities with the airport such as the runways.
Bodø Airport is a hub for the following airlines: Helgoland, Lofoten, and Vesteralan. The infrastructure of the airport is built in a modern way as it has concrete east-west runway and is 2,794 metres in length. The airport started its operations in 1921, but it serves only flights for postal purposes. The first runway was subsequently built in World War II. This airport has a rich history serving as a strategic military airbase, defending the Bodo city from the attack of the German Nazi. Bodø Airport is opened throughout the year; however, passengers should book parking space and make payment in advance via the airport’s official website.
There are two main terminals in Bodø Airport, one for domestic flights and the other for international flights. There is free internet service provided. Passengers can connect to this network by first selecting the network name, followed by entering their email address on the start-up page. The free access lasts for two hours; if the passengers want to extend the internet usage, they will be required to log in again.
Many transportation facilities are available to facilitate the passenger arriving in and departing from the airport. There is a taxi stand in front of the main airport entrance. The buses take approximately five minutes to reach Bodø Airport from the city center, bus number one and four are available in front of main entrance.
