Decent stay
Was upgraded to a room of 4, no problems with the room and was supplied with a heater due to it being winter and an old building. Bathrooms were nice and clean so all in all I cannot complain. Did not use the kitchen / common area much so can’t comment on those.

Outstanding stay, will come again!
Fantastic location, easy check in after hours, extremely clean facilities (bathrooms and showers were spotless), comfy beds, outstanding staff. Our room faced the main road so it was a little noisy overnight with the tram passing but that's what you get when you're in the centre of the city! Really happy with our stay and will definitely be back if we need a place to crash in the city.

worst experience ever
It is the worst experience I have ever had in a hostel. When I arrived, no one greeted me, no one showed me the place, they just charged me and gave me my room card. Super unfriendly, rather annoying. The place was in super bad condition, there was a bad smell, the common areas were super unpleasant, at night there was a lot of noise. The bathrooms were always dirty... I paid for a shared room with 3 beds for women only, which was not cheap at all. And the first day I slept there I found a mouse in the room, which I saw every day, I asked for help several times, they did not give me any solution and they did not give me my money back so I could not leave. No one ever went to the room to help me or to look for the mouse and clean it. Their only answer was that in two weeks a person would come who was in charge of putting poison. Everything was bad, the attention, the rooms, the cleanliness, I have nothing good to say about this place.

Noisy at all hours.
Good:
The location was excellent with access to everything in Fitzroy. The building was interesting and good for socializing.
Bad:
The quiet hours were not enforced at all. People were having loud conversations at 3am on a Wednesday and the noise bounced through the whole building. Drunk idiots broke one of the sinks and slept in the lounge. Even with earplugs it was too loud to sleep. The bathroom lights and showers were in poor condition. A little too chaotic for my tastes.

Heritage building
Beautiful heritage building. Quiet and clean. There are mostly young people but they are not rowdy partiers ..wine, conversation and laughter is usually the evening event. The rooms are clean and the staff work hard to keep everything so. The only cons would be the bathroom down the hall rather than in room, tiny kitchen and no lift. But i would absolutely stay here. again
