great place to stay, Tony was amazing!

Avoid!!! I arrived at about 5:30 at night, had a booking confirmed for over a week and NOBODY WAS THERE!
Rang the bell, messaged and tried to call several times - no reply! People from the shops below were even trying to help me contact them.
Finally Expedia customer service helped find me another place to stay, which was thankfully nearby, nicer and less expensive.
I'm a pretty experienced traveler but this was kind of scary. I'm a woman, alone, in a new city and it was starting to get dark and cold. I'd just arrived after a 4 hour bus trip and luckily my phone still had some charge.
I rely on booking through Expedia so this never happens (and this was the first time.) I think properties like this should be banned from trusted platforms like Expedia.
The property did message me three days later to say sorry and wish me a good stay in Cuenca.

Don’t going and booking on this place
I’ve got problem with Toni. He is really very bad person. I called Toni ( owner of accommodation) from Quito and he told me don’t book I have space and come at 8:00 am. I arrived at time ringing for 10 minutes, now one didn’t open door. Toni became at 8:25 and opened door. I asked him why no one doesn’t respond one bell he told me “go away, you can’t stay here”. I have traveled 126 countries, and Toni is the worst person I have met in my life.

If you have a problem, help yourself
We had arrive in cuenca at 7am. We had found this hostel. We had take a room just for 7 hours for sleeping.
The room was very dirty, with some holes in the bed sheed and brown tasks. The room was very noisy.
So we had sleep complety dressed on the bed.
The bathroom was so dirty too.
Then we had ask to have a cash back or a reduction for the room price.
The answer was = get out or I call the police.
Thank you for your welcoming.
