A centrally-located hostal near everything
This quiet (as possible) hostal a mere few blocks from the Parque Calderon is full of history and nice people. There's a tiny cafe on the first floor where you can get breakfast or lunch and early dinner, and the rooms are small and quite serviceable. Staff are lovely. You are seconds away by foot or taxi to just about everything. If you like very simple, this is for you. I prefer simple so this hostal was perfect. Downtown is noisy, nothing to be done about it, so I use white noise.
Milton and his wife Cathy are lovely people and the staff are here most of the time. If you're not used to this, please be prepared to respect the ancient sewage lines of this city and put your used toilet paper in the basket, and let the hot water warm up for a few minutes before you get into it.
I will be back here in May and most likely will stay here again.

Clean, comfortable and consistent
I rated Hostal Latina on my first visit in 2018. Since then I’ve returned 6-7 times and they never disappoint. This is a budget hostal, but in my opinion you get much more than others. I’m a budget traveler and for the price I pay, I get a private room and bath in the room, hot water, a comfortable bed and pillows, good Wifi and it is always very clean. I’ve stayed by myself (as a single female) and felt very safe. I’ve also traveled with friends, and they’ve been equally as impressed with the value for the price. I love the location as well - a quiet neighborhood, but quick direct walk to the main area. I’m so thankful for a place that I can return again and again and know it will be a consistent experience. For the Deal I Got.....I thought it was Solid ($10 per night)
While aesthetically run-down, I thought the facilities were adequate in that the Wi-Fi worked well, the water was hot, and the bed was comfortable. It is also in a nice location a few blocks from the central park. The hotel didn't show up on Google Maps so it was pretty difficult to find at first. I would definitely stay here again for a similar deal which I paid around $10 USD a night. I wouldn't pay the regular $25 a night to stay here as I could probably find a more modern hotel for a similar price.

Great place to stay in Cuenca!
This really is a great place to stay in Cuenca! I originally went and spoke with Mr. Milton about having a room that was quiet and he showed me a variety of rooms. I came back and stayed in my room for 10 days. I kept extending my stay because I really enjoyed my room and Cuenca offered many things to do.
The staff there were so nice, kind, and accommodating. It’s in a great location a block from the main church. If I come back to Cuenca, I would definitely stay in Hostal Latina! Thanks to everyone working there!

Very nice hostal on Cuenca
I highly recommend it!
Cheap, large and very clean rooms, with private bathroom.
Concerning the location, we can't do better (full center).
The staff is very nice, the atmosphere is "family friendly"!
