Spacious accommodation for family trips to Grugapark

Perfect for families who want to explore Essen using the subway and visit Grugapark. You practically step out of the hotel and into the subway station. Grugapark is just 5 minutes away. The family suites for 4 people are fully equipped 2-bedroom apartments and very spacious. Finally, you don't trip over suitcases. The hotel overall is rather small, which positively impacted breakfast, as it was nice and quiet there. However, it was probably not fully booked. During trade fair times, it is surely different. The breakfast was absolutely justified and satisfactory for the price we paid. There was even vegan spread and oat milk available. Coffee from a professional machine as well as high-quality tea were also included. The parking lot in the courtyard is partially covered, which is an advantage over the trade fair parking lots next door in the summer. In the entrance, there are two vending machines with drinks, snacks, and cosmetics in case you forgot something.
I think it's great that daily cleaning is not provided. This is beneficial for both the environment and the costs. The bathroom products were all natural-based and very pleasant.
Our children and we were very enthusiastic and enjoyed our short stay with Grugapark very much.

The room was very nice, clean and modern. However the staff was not the friendliest. There was no AC in the room with 30 degrees outside, it took down the whole experience. Breakfast was ok. The parking was nice and close but limited space.

Comfort of a hotel with the advantages of a private apartment!

Our Xter stay was almost perfect (if it were possible: 4.5 points) and we have already recommended the hotel several times. We usually take Studio M, which offers us an ideal layout and comfortable beds. We like the ambience with the modern, simple but colourfully friendly decor. Bathroom and kitchen are modern and clean. The location of the hotel is quite central and the busy Rüttenscheider Straße is within easy walking distance.
What we actually lack for the full 5 points: separately switchable light sources in the living area; a little more dishes.

Not recommended

The hotel / apartment building has seen its best times. The faucet in the small kitchen leaks, the walls are boarded up and fingered by dirty hands, holes in the walls not plastered
At the reception (the only friendly staff member I met) was not referred to the limited cleaning service.
Air conditioning is underground, either too hot or too cold.
Breakfast has an extremely limited choice.
I really cannot recommend this house.
