Guest House Bukittinggi
For a clean and cheap guest house type, Bamboosa is the best choice

Horror Show !
I am very Bamboozled as to WHY this dump has high ratings on some sites.
Ok Bukittinggi does not have many nice options. But this was by faaaar the most disgusting place I stayed at in Indonesia.
I sometimes use shower sandals and in THIS PLACE i did not want to use them cause I didnt want to get horriffic germs on my shower sandals.lol.
On arrival there was a "reception"hut which smelled of smoke and had a huge ashtray filled with butts.
Our room...I had to take a big step Back as the door opened. It STANK OF MOLD SO BADLY.the walls were all flaky from moisture..the room had an old red carpet which stank and it was so dirty(you could not clean it if you tried and it is not a good idea to have carpet in this climate.lol)
Towels smelled just the same.room looked Nothing like in pics(well..pics do not have smell attached)
The house smelled badly too and was furnished with old ugly sofas.
In all fairness the owner was nice and I felt bad for saying that the room was terrible.he said he can call me a cab to go to a different hotel.it was late and we stayed one night. But if you have been spoiled in Bali and Bukit Lawang or Lake Toba before..you need to know this is NOT on the same level or the same "Value for Money"as guest houses there.
I would not recommend it.also if you are an animal lover you will cry while having your breakfast cause you are surrounded by beautiful exotic birds which are in cages.
The shower worked good and there was coffe available.
The place is often full with local tourists.
I wish they would remodel and take out the old carpets and put tile !!!!

Unique & Well Managed
This place is very unique and absolutely well-managed. It's environmentally friendly and located in a very quiet corner of the city, and yet not too far from the major attractions. The rooms are clean and clean and the breakfast tastes marvellous. The only problem with this place is that it is located in quite a hidden corner of the city that it is quite difficult to locate, even with the most experienced drivers. It is definitely something different and the staff are very friendly and helpful too.

The real feeling of home away from home..
it is about 15 mins walk from jam gadang...many eating outlets; convenient stores, pharmacy, an atm koisk , mosque ,the main road all just 5 mins wall from Bamboosa.
Next to nature..clean and very friendly staffs and neighbourhood folks..a real home away from home environment , valued for$$$$, u get what you pay..
Nice breakfast and individually
serve, water despenser, mini garden , wifi , living room for family gathering, very clean room, bath room, realiable hot water shower etc...come and experience it urself..
very efficientcy shuttle service available upon request...

Unique B&B Guest House
This guest house is pretty unique....I am pretty certain that this guest house was built with much considerations for the environment and nature. The location of this guest house is not the easiest to locate BUT it is near enough to the city centre and majority of the tourist attractions in Bukit Tinggi. There is no fan or air-conditioner in all the rooms but the weather in Bukittinggi is cold enough to go without these modern comforts. The wifi is decent and there is a free flow of coffee and tea around this property. Breakfast wise, it is pretty tiny in portion but the food was absolutely delicious.
