Utterly charming
Such a unique experience! The old train cars have been transformed into lovely guest rooms with thoughtful, tasteful decor. Staying here was just delightful, and a great stop on the way from Windhoek to Etosha. Check-in is inside the gas station, but don’t be fooled; the rooms are lovely and we heard no ambient noise. The facility also has a nice vineyard you can walk around; they advertise themselves for weddings and I can see why. Excellent WiFi as well.

What a pleasant surprise.
I was looking for something other than the usual hotel room or B&B, and this was certainly it. Old train trucks transformed into very nice accomodation. On arrival I was handed a chilled bottle of water by the friendly staff. The room was already cooled when I entered it, which was a welcome gesture in the Tsumeb heat. The décor is tasteful and the room has everything you need. The train trucks are located behind a convenience store which has a deli, a bar and an eating area. Don't expect a lengthy menu but the selection should cater for most tastes. The location is the only reason I did not rate it 5 star. A more tranquil setting would have made The Conductor's Inn perfect. I wanted something different for an overnight stop and this was for sure it. A very pleasant stay and a treat to be able to stay in such a well thought out facility.

Highly Recommended
Do not let the appearance of this Inn deter you; The Conductors Inn was one of our favorite places that we stayed throughout the duration of our trip. We were skeptical upon arrival due to the location of the Inn being behind a gasoline station, in what appeared to be a run down train. However, the inside of the train was a pleasant surprise. The rooms are beautifully furnished, clean and has quite literally been transformed into a hotel room. No insects, a clean shower with running hot water, and a very comfortable bed. The location ended up being perfect as well, as we needed to fill our tank before continuing our journey. The staff is very warm, accomodating and friendly. They served breakfast a half hour before the normal breakfast hour to ensure that we could carry on with our road trip at our desired time. Functioning WiFi both in the room and restaurant.

So Special!
Wir waren zwei Nächte hier, bevor es weiter nach Etosha ging, und diese Erfahrung ist etwas ganz besonderes: man schläft in einem alten originalen Eisenbahnwaggon, hat alles drin, was man braucht - Dusche, Toilette, TV, Wasserkocher, sogar eine Klimaanlage! Es sind zwei Waggons, in jedem gibt es vier sehr hübsch eingerichtete „Zimmer“. Nebenan ist ein sehr gut sortierter Laden für Lebensmittel und alles nötige, außerdem ein stylisches, gemütliches Lokal, um was essen und trinken zu gehen, und eine moderne, große Tankstelle. Falls jemandem die Toilette im Zimmer (zwar hinter der Dusche, aber nicht abgetrennt) zu wenig intim ist, gibt es bei der Tankstelle, nur wenige Meter entfernt, weitere Toiletten. Das WLAN ist übrigens perfekt, fast besser als bei uns zu Hause!
Wir haben es total genossen - einziges Mini-Manko: Die Eingangstüren sind sehr lichtdurchlässig, und da draußen schöne Laternen leuchten, was für das Sicherheitsgefühl gut ist, ist es sehr hell im Zimmer, das könnte man mit einem Vorhang ändern. Auch sind die Fenster nicht ganz dicht, weshalb Mücken rein kommen können. Das könnte man aber sicher auch sehr leicht ändern.
Alles in allem: Loved it!
