Belize City is the biggest city in Belize, a country on the eastern coast of Central America. It is located along the Belize River. The city is an important port of Belize, as well as a center of finance and industrial activities. Belize was founded by the British in 1638, and was previously a Mayan city. It is best known for its Mayan sites, splendid beaches and water activities such as snorkeling.

Ambergris Caye: Located in the Caribbean Sea and to the northeast of Belize City, this is the biggest island of the country. It is known to have the best beaches of Belize. There are a good number of beach resorts here, as well as small fishing villages.
Caracol: As the most popular ancient Mayan archeological site, it houses various Mayan structures. Stretching over 50000 acres, this is among the largest Mayan ruins in the world.
Caye Caulker: Located about 20 miles from Belize City, this is a coral island that is highly loved by tourists. It is accessible from mainland Belize using water taxis. Known as a good place for snorkeling, scuba diving, and other water sports, this small island has risen in popularity in recent years. Many backpacker hotels and souvenir shops can be found here.
Actun Tunichil Muknal (Cave of the Crystal Sepulchre): This is another notable Mayan archeological site where visitors can observe ancient skeletons, ceramics, and stoneware. The central attraction of the cave is "The Crystal Maiden", which is the skeleton of an adolescent whose bones have been calcified to giving a sparkling appearance.
The main international airport serving the city is Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE), which is located about 12 miles from Downtown Belize. An average taxi ride from the airport to city center should cost about 200 HKD.
There are currently only a few airlines that fly from Hong Kong to Belize, namely Cathay Pacific, Delta, and United. Hong Kong citizens can enter and remain in Belize without a Visa, given that their passports have a minimum validity of 6 months, and that they have sufficient funds of 75 USD per day of stay. They also may be required to show documents of their next destination.
Belize City experiences consistently high levels of heat and humidity throughout the year. Temperature is also relatively consistent. There are 2 distinct seasons, namely the wet and the dry season. The wet season runs from May to January, with lots of rain and temperatures averaging around 28 °C.
The dry season is much shorter, only lasting from February to April. There is usually a serious lack of rainfall during the dry season. Temperatures in this season average around 23 °C. It is recommended that you visit Belize City in the dry season for a cooler and drier weather.
